John E. Anderson, Sr. has a proven track
record of philanthropy throughout Southern California and in
the Virgin Islands where Topa’s financial and in-kind gifts
are well-known.
Over the years, Topa Properties, Ltd. and
our sister companies, West Indies Corp., Bellows International
and Topa Insurance, have donated hundred of thousands of
dollars to charities like the United Way, the St. Thomas / St.
John Humane Society, the Boy Scouts of America, the Virgin
Islands America’s Cup Foundation and Charlotte Amalie 2000.
More recently, the Anderson Family Teacher
Grants Fund was set-up at the non-profit Community Foundation
of the Virgin Islands (www.cfvi.org).
Established in 2002, the “Teacher Grants Program” provides
funding to hundreds of Virgin Islands teachers, assistant
teachers and guidance counselors for projects that seek to
improve student achievement. The Teacher Grants Program has
provided much needed supplemental financial support for public
school teachers who develop art, music, literary, science and
math programs for the financially disadvantaged students of
the Virgin Islands.
